Summary

Agency is the confidence and ability to play an active role in making personal choices, and decades of research have identified a strong sense of agency as a key contributor to young adults’ success in school and in life. This research inspired a small band of passionate educators to build a PreK-12 “superhighway” designed to help students of all backgrounds develop an unwavering sense of confidence in their personal capacity to lead and succeed. Learn how this award-winning superhighway—the University of Chicago Charter School—is breaking new ground in developing an Agency Score designed to empower students with a sense of their own agency and how to nurture it along their individual paths.
