Summary

Over the last two years our all-girls, urban public school school has utilized an on-campus Makerspace to develop everything from an outdoor classroom to a Krav-Maga personal safety tool. While incredible, in this session we'll argue that these creations aren't the most important outcome of Maker Ed. Rather, it's the students' Social Emotional Learning that takes place as they tackle real-world problems and engage in the design process to bring to life solutions that is the real star of the show. Participants will hear from students, teachers, administrators and SEL specialists to see how to make this type of learning a reality in their school or district.
