Summary

At most schools, special education is an afterthought, resulting in practices and systems that segregate students with disabilities from general education students. What if the model was switched? What if special education and the vision for a fully inclusive environment was the priority and all other decisions followed from this initial shared value? This session will focus on one school's journey to a fully inclusive school over the past six years and the resulting outcomes for students, families and school staff. The case study will look at the necessary resources, mindsets, skills and values that are necessary for all students to have access to a quality and equitable education.
