Texas A&M University-San Antonio - Associate Professor of Psychology
By 2020, an estimated 1.8 million military students will be enrolled at four year universities. As universities tailor programs to support various non-traditional groups, only a few have invested significant resources to assist faculty and staff in becoming culturally competent in the provision of services to military students. Military students bring a separate culture and a different set of strengths compared to traditional and other non-traditional students. This calls for different strategies to support their higher education success. This presentation will focus on both the importance and benefits of training for higher education faculty and staff in military cultural competency.
