Doreen Lorenzo
Center for Integrated Design at the University of Texas, Austin - Executive Director

Summary

Design thinking has become one of the most valued skills by employers today. But until now quality design education has been reserved for elite private and graduate level institutions. In this talk, UT-Austin Center for Integrated Design Director Doreen Lorenzo will make a call to action for universities to move design methodology from a fringe elective to a key part of students’ core curriculum. Drawing lessons from building the country’s largest campus-wide initiative to integrate design thinking into curriculum across business, engineering, health, computer science and fine arts, Doreen will identify tangible ways educators can start to adapt to this new systems-centric way of teaching.
