This hands-on gardening/cooking session, centered around whole grains, will show attendees how to easily incorporate history, math, nutrition and science into their daily teachings. By focusing on planting, grinding and baking corn for polenta cakes, teachers and administrators will learn how to engage students through an array of activities. By presenting an engaging and real world scenario this workshop will help attendees understand the myriad of subjects and Common Core Standards that can be accessed through garden and cooking projects. Attendees can expect to leave with lesson plans, solid activities and physical materials to engage their students in a small or large garden setting.
