Summary

Young students benefit from learning to code using ScratchJr, Bee-Bot robots and other introductory tools. These experiences become even more powerful when students are challenged to represent their code using 3D construction materials like LEGOs and wooden unit blocks. In this session, the presenter will draw on their experience developing and implementing enrichment programs in computer science and robotics for young children from PreK through third grade. We'll discuss and demonstrate the constructivist learning concepts that support cross-media learning and describe new brain research that demonstrates the importance of pairing tangible and virtual learning experiences.
