Student Living Enhanced Through Social Media
Wednesday, March 6
10:30AM - 11:30AM
Hilton Austin Downtown Salon B
Summary
The adoption of a strategic social media plan is crucial to student affairs professionals’ ability to keep students informed. One need not be an “expert” at social media to be proficient with it and use it to enhance his or her work with students. This presentation will offer examples of how to transform the way student affairs and administration communicates with students in the campus setting. Attendees will learn to articulate the goals they hope to achieve by implementing social media programs on their campuses, get familiarized with social networks and tools they can use to create or improve their social media presence on-campus, and share the successes and failures of implementing comprehensive social media plan over the course of one academic year. Examples provided will demonstrate how St. Edward’s University's Office of Residence life built a social media program that connects with students from very diverse backgrounds.
