Bridging the Gap: Centering Students with Disabilities
2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the federal law that guaranteed students with disabilities a free appropriate public education. Today, that promise remains unfulfilled. How do we shift mindsets and beliefs about what is possible? Can research about what works better inform practices in our schools? How do we intentionally address historical discrimination at the intersection of race, class, and ability? This session will explore practices and models at the system, district, and school level that improve outcomes for students with disabilities and lead to stronger schools for all students.
This is an accredited session for CPE credit.Programming descriptions are generated by participants and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of SXSW.
