Shot Glasses of Happiness: Nurturing Student Well-Being

Hopelessness is prevalent among college students. Institutions can’t rely on counseling centers as the singular solution. Educators should utilize nonclinical interventions to help students “fill up their cup of life” and avoid optional drains of their energy. Instead, educators can move students beyond the idea of singular cathartic experiences as solutions to their hopelessness to a focus on filling their cup of life with smaller incremental approaches, or as the presenter will define as shot glasses of happiness. Proven and tested strategies for diverse populations will be discussed.
