Game Design Docs Are Better Than Class Lesson Plans

Educators often see video games as an enemy to confront, distracting students from school work. The reason games are as addicting as they are is that they are designed that way, based on psychological, neurological and sociological research. Much of that research is published and readily available, so lets learn from the Game Industry how they do it and apply those ideas to our lessons. We will look at the research, understand how games have such an commanding effect on students then work through provided templates and guides to design lessons to be equally engaging and rewarding.

Programming descriptions are generated by participants and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of SXSW.
