Reach for the Green Light: Gatsby, Literary Theory, & AI

Theory can be a welcome disrupter to classics. But it's hard. Presenters will model key parts of a high school unit that offered teen-readable literary theory as a critical lens for re-seeing a classic novel. Come read and respond to AI-generated tenth-grade-level literary criticism focused on The Great Gatsby. Presenters will share how the whole unit unfolded, including how this exercise led to students seeing how different theories spark new interpretations. Teachers in the workshop will then have a chance to consider a literary work in their curriculum, and to build theory models using AI.
