Michael Peña

Michael Peña joined the Washington Education Association in 2021 as Director of the Racial, Social, & Economic Justice Center after 15 years as a biology teacher. Peña is a well-respected conference presenter and panelist, mentor, outspoken advocate for racial and social justice in schools, and published contributor. He has collaborated with state senators and representatives on education legislation and sits on the state Equal Opportunity Gap Committee. A graduate of San Diego State University, Peña also has certifications in Change Management, the ICS, and is a licensed IDI QA.
