EdTech Surveillance: How Companies Scam Schools & Hurt Kids

Each year, America's schools spend billions on surveillance products that are marketed as essential for student safety. But there are two major problems. First, there is no verifiable evidence the products work. Second, the techs significantly harm students, especially the most vulnerable. This presentation pulls back the curtain on the EdTech Surveillance industry’s misinformation campaign, and provides the information schools need to better evaluate the industry’s efficacy claims, recognize product harms, identify related opportunity costs, and adopt improved decision making procedures.
