Why the Construction Industry Needs Educators

This session is part of the special 2024 Crossover Day. Attendance is open to all SXSW EDU badgeholders as well as all SXSW badgeholders. As always, SXSW strongly believes in the power of mixing creative communities.

The construction industry is facing a labor shortage, and educators play a critical role in filling this gap. This session will explore the reasons why the construction industry needs educators, and how educators can help to introduce youth to the skilled trades, advocate for hands-on learning, and encourage girls and minority students to pursue careers in construction and skilled trades.
• The labor shortage in the construction industry
• The role of educators in filling the labor shortage
