Making Black History Visible: From the U.S. to the U.K.
Current attempts to limit how Black history is taught expand beyond the U.S. into places like the U.K. During this conversation, Javier and Athian will discuss how they use their platforms to disrupt traditional curriculums that exclude, minimize or distort Black histories. To reach Gen Z and other learners, they use walking tours in public spaces, such as the Texas State Capitol grounds, and they have taken the stage in collaboration with hip-hop icons at Glastonbury to reach a wider audience.
