Solving Academic Inequity for Former Foster Youth, Date TBA
130,000+ unaccompanied homeless youth (UHY) and 5,000+ former foster youth (FFY) face homelessness each year. UHY and FFY transitioning into college are at a key crossroads and require additional supports. Many universities have campus support programs (CSPs) to support these youth, yet no empirical evaluations of CSPs exists. This presentation highlights the need for equity programming and the first empirical study of a holistic, trauma-informed CSP for UHY and FFY.
Programming descriptions are generated by participants and do not necessarily reflect the opinions of SXSW.
