Black Families Matter–Policing in Child Welfare

Recording: Black Families Matter–Policing in Child Welfare, Date TBA

The foster care system is hiding in plain sight. Families of color have been torn apart for centuries under the guise of child protection. Predictably, Black families are more likely to be reported, investigated, and removed by child protective services (CPS). As mandated reporters, educators are one of the primary sources of entry into a foster care pipeline that traps Black families. Racial disparities in CPS will be explored through the lenses of persons currently working to re-imagine CPS.
