Integration Lead
AltSchool

Courtney enjoys creating rich, play-based learning environments that nurture her students’ intuitive abilities to observe, ask questions, and solve problems. Courtney believes the best units of instruction develop both content knowledge and cognitive awareness, and she uses metacognitive techniques such as reflective inquiry and mindfulness to help students interpret what and how they are learning.

Prior to joining AltSchool, Courtney taught third through fifth grade for seven years in a multiage classroom in the suburbs of Chicago. Courtney is a National Board Certified Teacher and was awarded a Fulbright Distinguished Award in Teaching in 2014. As a Fulbright Scholar, Courtney researched the intersection of feedback, formative assessment, and mindfulness in primary schools throughout the UK. Courtney earned a Master of Education from Northwestern University and her B.A. from Boston College.
