Renee Hobbs is Professor of Communication Studies and Director of the Media Education Lab at the University of Rhode Island’s Harrington School of Communication and Media, where she co-directs the Graduate Certificate in Digital Literacy. Her research focuses on digital and media literacy, copyright and fair use for digital learning, and teaching and learning about contemporary propaganda. She has published more than 150 scholarly and professional articles and authored five books including Reading the Media: Media Literacy in High School English (2007), Copyright Clarity: How Fair Use Supports Digital Literacy (2011) and Digital and Media Literacy: Connecting Classroom and Culture (2012). She has developed award-winning educational curriculum resources including documentary videos and educational games and is the founding co-editor of the Journal of Media Literacy Education.
