Much has been written about student engagement in hands on learning. But how can we encourage family engagement in informal educational environments? What fosters—or even hinders—family engagement? The Smithsonian’s Lemelson Center has studied family engagement in Spark!Lab, its hands on invention center for kids and families, and will share practical takeaways and best practices to encourage parents and caregivers to engage in hands on learning with their children.
